The Early Pregnancy Research Laboratory is partnered with the Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Laboratory to advance clinical and biomedical research on endometriosis-associated pelvic pain. Endometriosis can cause painful menstrual cramps, chronic pelvic pain, and sexual pain, and is linked to infertility and an increased risk of early pregnancy loss. Together, our teams investigate how pelvic pain conditions, including endometriosis, impact reproductive health, with the goal of developing more accurate diagnostics and targeted treatments to improve fertility and pregnancy outcomes.
The Early Pregnancy Research Laboratory at BC Women’s Hospital is partnered with the BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) BioBank. The BCCH BioBank is a secure, centralized resource that collects and stores de-identified biological samples and health information to support ethically approved medical research. In collaboration with the BioBank, the RPL Tissue BioBank research collects tissue from consenting patients at the RPL Clinic to enable investigation into the causes, treatment, and long-term prognosis of recurrent pregnancy loss. This ongoing work aims to generate new insights and improve outcomes for affected families.
The Early Pregnancy Research Laboratory at BC Women’s Hospital is partnered with Butterfly Run BC, a registered non-profit that provides support, resources, and community for individuals affected by infertility, pregnancy loss, and infant loss. This collaboration ensures that research remains patient-focused and translational by integrating community perspectives into research initiatives. Butterfly Run BC helps disseminate research findings through accessible, wide-reaching platforms, while the research program provides clinical and scientific expertise. Together, we aim to improve support and multidisciplinary care for families affected by early pregnancy complications.
