Bahi is a visiting fellow from Egypt completing his PhD under Dr. Bedaiwy’s supervision. He received his medical degree from Menofia University and practices as an OBGYN. His research interests include endometriosis and recurrent pregnancy loss.

Maya Geerts

Research Assistant

Maya is a first-year medical student at UBC. She entered medical school after completing three years of her undergraduate education in biology. As she grew up in a small northern community, she is passionate about improving rural health care and services. Her research interests include woman’s sexual and reproductive health, with a specific emphasis on recurrent pregnancy loss, fertility preservation in cancer patients, and sexual pain. Maya’s interest in women’s health is inspired by the stories and experiences of the strong woman who surround her.

Erica Won

Research Assistant

Erica is a full-time research student at the Bedaiwy Lab. She studies Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia, with a special interest in immunology and bacterial pathogenesis. In addition to RPL research, she is a clinical research student at BC Children’s Dept. of Emergency Medicine. She loves to read, exercise, and hang out with her cats!

Jeyah Cruz

Research Assistant

Jeyah is a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia majoring in Microbiology and Immunology. She joined the team with an initial interest in learning more about recurrent pregnancy loss, and has since developed a passion in this field of research. She hopes to further contribute to the work being done in RPL by enhancing the lab’s knowledge mobilization strategies and creating media that will cater towards the general audience to ultimately spread more awareness about the condition.

Arshdeep Sidhu

Research Assistant

Arshdeep is a dedicated fourth-year Biology undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia. She joined the team as a Co-op student eager to contribute to the work being conducted in the field of recurrent pregnancy loss. She is committed to continuing to learn about RPL and its etiology, and using her skills in data management to assist in the lab’s ongoing research projects.
